Kuala Terengganu 26/1/2014 : For quite some time that we tried to grab him for a chat but somehow he manage to slip away from our radar. Now, we chanced upon him and had him cornered at the departure hall of Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu. He was cooperative enough to even pat and clean the chair for us and he did break the ice well. We start with how he got the name 'Mat Yo' and he said rather blushingly that it was a nick name given by his family and it stuck even among his friends. He starts to play football at 10 years old in his hometown Besut. Then he managed to proceed his secondary at SSBJ and sits his SPM there in 2003. Thereafter he joined Perak's President Cup team for a year and handpicked to be with NS Naza until 2007. The following year he went to MyTeam and played there for a year and his star really shined in Kelantan until 2013. And now, this seemingly reserved and quite striker spell out his ideals and vision in regards to his being in JDT.

QUESTION (Q) : As a professional, are you comfortable with the mix matching that Coach Jiminez has set against the tactical/player combination?

ANSWER (A) : I'm comfortable. The settings is not a problem for me. When I play, for sure I'd give my 100% and I don't mind with whom I'm tagged with.

Q : As a National player, do you set any number of goals in order to assist JDT to win a Cup?

A : Definitely I'm determined to do just that, as a gift to JDT and TMJ. But we need to cooperate and work it out as a team first and foremost. It is impossible to be a champ if the objective is not instilled into the heart of each team member. Personally, I'm all out for it.

Q : Again, are you comfortable to be paired with Luciano if the tactical demands 2 strikers in the attacking moves?

A : That is my actual position. And with Luciano, I'm more than willing and for sure I'm comfortable with that mix. But, currently I am in the flanks and played there for the past 2 matches.

Q : On paper, JDT seems invincible in addition to a good coach – how many Cups does JDT will be able to bring home this year?

A : Yeah, we are deemed the treble by many, but to theorise on paper does not guarantee a championship or a Cup. It is what you can do on field ultimately. Personally, I'd love to have all 3, but to win the League title is good enough.

Q : Are you burdened with more or less responsibility with your current role in the midfield department as compared to the style that Coach Jiminez tries to adapt?

A : We bears a huge responsibility the moment we set our feet on field, even during training. It is up to each individual player to manage pressure no matter how heavy it is.

Q : You are very much popular amongst JDT supporters, do you plan to remain with JDT or how?

A : I would love to stay on with JDT and that is my desire. This is the best team I've ever played with and I want to serve under the wings of TMJ. It's a classy set up and I have no intention to migrate.

Q : This is your second season here, how do you interpret TMJ's mission and vision?

A : He has really achieved something great for the people of Johor and changed the mind set and perspectives in the country about football, even amongst the players too. Things are turning for the better throughout the nation.

Q : Anything you would like to relay to the supporters of JDT?

A : To all the supporters out there, never give up on your team be it either we are on the losing side or a draw. Come in droves and fill up the stadium, home or away.
