<b>Norshahrul</b> out of team for Cebu - Soccer - New Straits Times

Norshahrul apparently is still paying the price for failing to report for national team duty ahead of Malaysia's Asian Cup qualifier against Yemen last month.

Though the Darul Ta'zim striker eventually showed up, Kim Swee axed Norshahrul from the team that beat Yemen 2-1 after leaving him on the bench for the whole of a 1-1 draw against the Philippines in an earlier friendly match in Selayang.

Having decided not to call up Norshahrul this time, Kim Swee will choose from a quintet of forwards including Safee Sali, Amri Yahyah and Bobby Gonzalez, who all started against Yemen, to lead the line in Cebu on Sunday.

"The players did well against Yemen and I saw no need to change with Safee, Bobby, Norfarhan (Muhammad) and Fakri (Saarani) all here," said Kim Swee after the national team's final training session at Wisma FAM in Petaling Jaya yesterday before leaving for Cebu today.

"These players are all performing better than Norshahrul, who has not been playing regularly for Darul Ta'zim."

Three players each from Kelantan and Selangor, who were involved in the AFC Cup in midweek, linked up with the squad yesterday for their first training session.

The only new face in the squad is defender Ronny Harun, though his Sarawak teammate Junior Eldstal is still waiting to win his first international cap.

Midfielders: Safiq Rahim (DT), Baddrol Bakhtiar (Ked), Badhri Radzi (Kel), Azamuddin Akil, Hafiz Kamal (both Pah), Junior Eldstal (Sar), S. Kunanlan (Sel); Forwards: Amri Yahyah, Safee Sali (both DT), Ahmad Fakri Saarani (Kel), Bobby Gonzalez (Pol), Norfarhan Muhammad (Ter).
