Fuhh....!! Cool Emoticons

S'wak thrashed 4-0 and out of M'sia Cup | BorneoPost Online ...

KOTA BAHRU: Defensive football failed to save Sarawak when they were thrashed by Malaysia Cup defending champion Kelantan 4-0 in Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium in Kota Bahru with goals late in the second half as the Crocs lost focus in the dying minutes of the game.

Kelantan found the first goal from its captain Badhri Radzi in the 79th minutes, followed by Norshahrul Idlan Talaha in the 87th minutes, Danial Fadli 88th minutes and Badhri once again in the extra time.

Badhri never say die attitude earned him the goal in the 79th minutes, tearing apart Sarawak defence with great individual run when knowing one of his team mates was already caught by offside trap. He slammed the ball passed Aidil Mohammad to break the duck.

Norshahrul, who missed so many chances earlier in the game showed his class and live up to the expectation when scoring kelantan second goal to sent the Stadium into near delirium. He dribbled past three Sarawak defenders but his first attempt was blocked, he made a turn and slammed the ball into the back of the net.

Barely a minute later, substitute Danial Fadli once again sent the Stadium into frenzy when he scored Kelantan third goal from a superb through ball that easily beat Sarawak defenders.

Badhri accomplished the mission for Kelantan with sledge-hammer in the extra time when he run from behind to connect into a backpass that gave Sarawak goalkeeper no chance at all.

With the fourth defeat Sarawak is out from Malaysia Cup.

Sarawak played with new formation, 4 – 4 – 1 – 1 with Fareez Tukijo, Hairol Moktar, Sahran Samad and Mazwandi Zekeria at the back, Ashri Chuchu, Wong Sai Kong, Shahrol Saperi and Dzulazalan Ibrahim in the middle, Zamri Morshidi as back up striker and Bobby Gonzales as top striker.

Coach Robert Alberts were obviously taking note of the fans displeasure on the Crocs lacked of fire-power upfront when fielding Zamri as back-up striker, but that did not help at all as Kelantan were firing on all cylinders to control the game and leaving Sarawak at their mercy.

AGI IDUP AGI NGELABAN: Sarawak team training session at the State Stadium recently.

KELANTAN have roped in Pahang strikers R Surendran and Azamuddin Akil, and the duo scored five goal between them in the buildup matches.

Apart from the Pahang twin terror, Kelantan's top striker is also the nation's most prolific marksman, Norshahrul Idlan Talaha.

He has scored 43 goals for Kelantan to date. He was the Super League top scorer in 2010 but was second in the final goals tally this year.

N o r s h a h r u l a n d Azamuddin should form a formidable strike force for Kelantan as they once played together for Perak UPB Myteam.

Norshahrul though born in Besut, grew up in Perak and played for Perak at all junior levels before being signed by Kelantan.

Also in the Kelantan squad is former Malaysia topscorer Mohd Kh a l id Jamlu s . Khalid is no stranger in Malaysia football. Khalid, like Norshahrul is among the finest player produced by Per ak development programme.

To top it up, Kelantan would be coached by M Karathu – the man who gained fame by guiding Kinta Indian Association (KIA), Perak to success in Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Cup.

Being t he de fend i ng champion of Malaysia Cup and champion of Super League, Kelantan is a cut above Sarawak. Although Khairul Fahmi Che Mat would not be around, Kelantan will not be having serious problem in between the posts because their second goalkeeper Shahrizan Ismail is almost as good.

"Shahrizan is good but we are afraid should anything happen to him," Azman stressed. Shahrizan was fielded in three crucial games this season and maintained a clean slate.

He played against Johor FC in the second round of FA Cup that saw Kelantan won 1-0, against Terengganu in Super League on June 6th when Kelantan won 3-0 and against Perak in Super League on June 14th where Kelantan win 1-0.

Shahrizan is no greenhorn either having played for Malaysia's other highest paying teams like Selangor from year 2001 to 2004, before migrating to Terengganu 2005 to 2007 before returning to his home state Kelantan since 2008. He started playing for Kelantan president cup team in 1994 and 1995.

If anything happen to Shahrizan, Kelantan will be banking on junior goalkeeper Mohd Syazwan and Judtanna A/L Eh Put.

Kelantan didn't have it easy | BorneoPost Online | Borneo , Malaysia ...

Crocs came unstuck by loose passing and fatigue in the end

IF you read the Malay national dailies, you'd find most of them saying Kelantan registered an easy victory over Sarawak at the State Stadium on Tuesday night.

However, in truth, the East Coast giants did not have it as easy as it was made out to be. In the first half – and before they got on the scoresheet after the break – they were often caught on the backfoot by the Crocs, an unknown quantity at best compared to the highly-paid defending champions.

When the match kicked off at 8.15pm, Sarawak went on the offensive with neat passing and a high degree of tactical discipline.

At one stage, the homesters' exchange of passes was so confident that striker Bobby Gonzales could simply hold the ball, then re-direct it before making a dash to open space.

Like clockwork, Jaganathan would come from behind to collect the pass and pressure the Kelantan defence. But sadly, all the beautiful moves failed to produce the desired result due to poor finishing. As a typical lower league team, Sarawak would probably need 20 chances to create a goal.

As the match progressed, the terraces began filling up – some 20,000 fans eventually turned up. However, a majority had missed most of the early action due to an error on the ticket stating the match would start at 8.45pm.

Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) secretary Abdullah Julaihi had apologised to the fans and promised it would not happen again.

Attacking football

Both teams continued to play interesting attacking football with Sarawak surprisingly having the lion's share of possession, heightening the hopes of many expectant fans that if they kept up the momentum, the Crocs could well steal a march on the Super League and Malaysia Cup champions.

Sarawak's reserved players who were not in the team on the night and were sitting together with reporters, could not hide the joy of seeing their teammates taking the fight to their the highly-rated opponents.

When the referee blew the whistle after 45 minutes, most of the local supporters, upbeat over the Crocs' gutsy first-half showing, were anticipating the homesters would get at least a point.

Tactical change

But after the breather, Kelantan showed a different kind of urgency. Instead of matching Sarawak's double-touch football of neat passing and positioning, they started making individualistic runs.

National winger S Chanturu constantly swerved from right to left and vice versa, wreaking havoc on Sarawak's defence formation, designed to contain conventional passing and cut off through balls.

In a display of versatility, the Kelantan players showed the home side how to change direction when things were not going according to script.

Sarawak manager and head coach Robert Alberts was proven right in his assessment that the stronger and more experienced Kelantan players knew they were paid handsomely to produce results – and they did just that by raising the tempo of the game while Sarawak players were slowly showing signs of fatigue as the match wore on.

The visitors' menacing runs and penetrating passes unsettled a tiring Sarawak who began committing more mistakes. In the final 15 minutes, the Crocs' exhaustion-induced erratic passing – like those seen during their buildup friendlies – became their own undoing and a turning point for Kelantan.

A simple error from central defender Hairol Moktar killed any chance Sarawak had of creating an upset.

Hairol's sloppy backpass to the last man Chung Ken Hong was intercepted by Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, and the prolific striker showed Sarawak how to finish off a chance.

He dribbled into the penalty box and slickly slotted the ball into the corner of the net beyond the reach of Sarawak's goalie Aidil Mohd to break the deadlock in Kelantan's favour in the 63rd minute.

Norshahrul once again showed why he is one of the most feared strikers in the region when he ran into a Sarawak defender but was still able to create enough space to make a brilliant pass for S Chanturu to slam home Kelantan's second goal in the 79th minute.

Alberts, in his short-message reply to this paper, insisted his boys could match Kelantan's fitness level but were punished for their mistakes.

The Crocs' most glaring weaknesses were seen in the poor passing among the defenders that often left them at the mercy of the marauding Kelantan strikers.

To make it to the second round, Sarawak need a lot of work not only on tightening up their passing but also capitalising on half chances. But apparently, this will take a gigantic effort to pull off with the kind of players we have, and the money invested in the team – for instance, one Kelantan player earns the combined salaries of three Sarawak players.

The FAS should consider channelling part of proceeds from ticket sales to reward the players for winning promotion to the Super League next season.

This will also boost their morale in their upcoming away Malaysia Cup match against Felda United.

The long overdue incentives have quietly been discussed by the Sarawak players on the social network in which they expressed their dismay over the zero bonus payment despite acquitting themselves well in the Premier League.

Crocs go down fighting | BorneoPost Online | Borneo , Malaysia ...

Defending champions Kelantan overpower Sarawak 2-0 in opener

KUCHING: Sarawak gave high flying visitors Kelantan a scare with high quality football before going down 0-2 to the Super League champions in their Malaysia Cup opener at the State Stadium last night.

Playing for the first time at night in State Stadium, and cheered by some 20,000 supporters Sarawak went on a very promising start in the first half.

Sarawak got it first chance in 2nd minutes, but central defender Hairol failed to connect to the corner taken by Dzulazlan.

In the 5th minute Sarawak got a second corner.

Clearance made by a Kelantan defender was intercepted by Sarawak midfielder who through the ball to Bobby Gonzales, who misfired.

Sarawak continued to attack and in the 15th minute, Bobby backheeled to Jaganathan, resulting into a freekick.

But again, the golden opportunity was wasted.

In the 21st minute Sarawak again made a counter attack, Zamri lobbed ball to Bobby, but the Sabahan decided to dribbled one too many and wasted the opportunity.

The game continued with both side exchanging attack but the game ended at 0-0 at half time.

Kelantan superiority were evident in the second half when they changed the game plan to punish the tiring Sarawak players.

The move paid off when Sarawak defenders made unnecessary errors resulting from Kelantan strikers solo effort.

Hairol Moktar backpass to Chun Keng Hong were robbed by Norshahrul. Norshahrul controlled the ball before coolly slot the ball home to give Kelantan the lead in 63rd minutes.

Norshahrul again created kelantan second goal when he side-stepped Sarawak defender before passing the ball to S Chanturu to beat Aidil Mohd.

Kelantan were fielding their regular first eleven plus Pahang on-loan striker, Mohd Azamuddin Mohd Akil.

Sarawak started Bobby as lone striker, backed by Jaganathan as attacking midfielder. On the right flank was Zamri Morshidi while Ashri Chuchu on the left flank. Sarawak engine room were manned by veteran Wong Sai Kong.

Sarawak defence line were marshalled by new signing Chun Keng Hong, assisted Shahrol Saperi and Mohd Hairol Moktar.

Playing on the left and right defence were Mazwandi Zakeria and Mohd Dzulazlan.

Coach Robert Alberts stick to his patience football formation, fielding five defenders, four midfielders and lone striker – obviously trying to absorb Kelantan lethal strike force lead by Malaysia top striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha and Azamuddin Akil.

Both teams made three substitutes in the second half.

Sarawak Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Muhammad Salahuddin and Malaysia head coach Datuk K Rajagobal were also present.

KOSMO!ONLINE
